Have you taken note of the closing dates of our practice?
We will be operating with a skeleton staff over the two short weeks between the 27th Dec and the 5th Jan and we will only be booking appointments on the day. Our phones will also only be on at the practice between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm over these short weeks. Outside of these hours calls will divert to our after hours service.

Promotion - Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the most common cancer for women affecting one in nine New Zealand women over their lifetime. While uncommon, men can get breast cancer too.
These days breast cancer's much more treatable if its found early. but tragically, around 650 women die of the disease every year. Every woman needs to be breast aware from the age of 20 and consider starting mammograms in their 40's to help reduce the risk of advanced breast cancer.

The FAST campaign encourages New Zealanders to learn the key signs of stroke and to act fast by calling 111 if they suspect a stroke. Prompt action can save lives, improve recovery and reduce ongoing costs from stroke to families, caregivers and the health services. It is vital to recognise when someone is having a stroke and to start treatment as soon as possible, because the sooner medical treatment begins, the more likely brain damage can be reduced and a better outcome achieved.

What diseases will my child be protected against?
The National Immunisation Schedule recommends that children be immunised for protection from 11 preventable diseases before they are 5 years old.
The diseases are:
diphtheria
tetanus
whooping cough (pertussis)
polio
hepatitis B
hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b)
rotavirus
pneumococcal disease
measles
mumps
rubella.
