My medical career began in 1984. After a number of years studying, working and travelling overseas, I returned to Auckland to commence my GP training. In 1990, I joined Peter and Judy as a partner in Drury Surgery and my wife and I shifted to Drury with our young children. 25 years later, our 3 adult children, who attended the local Drury Primary School, have left home (although they do return from time to time). We love being part of the local community and enjoy walking in the Hunua Ranges and cycling the country roads.

At present David is not accepting new patient enrollments

David has alternate Thursday and Fridays off. On the weeks he is off on a Thursday medication requests received after 2 pm Wednesday will not be actioned until Friday and on the weeks he has Fridays off requests received after 2 pm Thursday will not be actioned until the following Monday.

Peter has been a General Practitioner for over 30 years and is one of the founding partners of Drury Surgery.
He is married to Judy, also a partner at the surgery and they have five adult children.
Peter has wide experience in all aspects of GP care.  He trained at Auckland University and has post-graduate diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynecology and also in Sports Medicine.  He was heavily involved in sports medicine for over 10 years looking after rugby teams, the Counties Manukau Steelers, the Blues and the New Zealand under 21 teams.
He is now in full-time General Practice at Drury Surgery and has additional responsibilities as a practice director and a teacher.  He has a strong belief that General Practice will be the core of New Zealand’s medical system and we have a responsibility to train high quality practitioners.
Outside work family and an active lifestyle keep him busy.  He usually has some project or challenge underway to try to keep some balance in life.

At present Peter is not accepting new patient enrollments.

Judy started this practice in 1985 over 30 years ago. 

Judy has a special interest in sports medicine and was for several years the NZ Ferns netball doctor.

Judy has an active lifestyle keeping her busy and she usually is training for another challenge having recently completed the Coast to Coast  in Feb 2016 and the Great Barrier Island Marathon.  These challenges keep her fit and give her life balance.

At present Judy is not accepting new patient enrollments.

Judy is here all day Monday, Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Medication requests received after 11 am on a Wednesday will not be actioned until the following Monday.

Dr Christine Rushton is a General Practitioner contracting long term at Drury Surgery.
She is experienced in Mirena / IUD insertion and trained in Jadelle implant insertion. She has experience as a breast feeding adviser and child birth educator in the past.
She also contracts to CMDHB as a General Practitioner, with a Special Interest in Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat Specialty), combining this work with the general practice work.
This training enables her to book patients suitable for tonsillectomy and grommets directly onto theater waiting lists, bypassing the need to wait to be seen at the outpatient’s clinic for assessment.
Dr Christine Rushton also has an interest in rheumatology, particularly Sjogren's Syndrome.

At present Christine is not accepting new patient enrollments.

Christine is here two days a week. Tuesday and Friday. Medication requests received after 11 am on a Tuesday will not be actioned until the Friday and requests received after 2 pm Friday will not be actioned until the following Tuesday.

Lynnette works 2 days at the surgery.  As well as working at Drury Surgery, Lynnette has an interest in Community Emergency Medicine and works at an Accident and Medical Clinic. 


At present Lynnette is not accepting any new patient enrollments. 

Lynnette is only here one and half days. Working all day Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Medication requests from her patients will only be actioned on these days and requests received after 11 am on a Thursday will not be actioned until the following Wednesday.

I have completed my GP training in the Netherlands, and completed my New Zealand Fellowship January 2015. After working for 1 year in New Zealand in 2011, my wife Suzanne and I fell in love with this country. We decided to move back and make it our home in 2013. Recently, we moved to Ararimu, and love living in this area every day. As a GP I believe in continuity of care, so I am grateful that Drury Surgery offers me the chance to see you five days of the week.  

At present Erik is not accepting new patient enrollments. 

Erik is here Monday to Fridays.

Erik is off Tuesday afternoons.

Dr Catherine Lu

Catherine was born in China and moved to New Zealand in her primary school years. Following her graduation from the University of Otago she has spent some time working at both Christchurch Hospital (where she completed her Diploma of child health through Otago) and Auckland City Hospital.

Catherine an experienced GP fellow has been a valued member of the Drury Surgery team for several years. At present Catherine is not accepting new patient enrollments.

Catherine is here Monday Wednesday Thursday and Friday. Catherine is not in the practice on Tuesdays.

You are welcome to see Catherine when your regular doctor is unavailable.

Dr Sophie Chan

Sophie is a graduate of The University of Auckland and has a postgraduate diploma in paediatrics. She spent some time working at Auckland City Hospital and Starship Hospital before going on to full-time General Practice. Sophie has wide interests in all areas of General Practice, with experience in youth health, women’s health, and is trained in Jadelle contraception. Having grown up in the Papakura area, she is glad to be back working in the community that is well known to her and of which she is very fond.

Sophie is in the practice Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday. Sophie is accepting New Patient enrollments.

Dickson grew up in Papakura and attended University of Auckland Medical School, completing his studies in 2009. Following work as a junior doctor in various specialties at hospitals in the Auckland Region, he decided to pursue a career in General Practice and completed his Fellowship of the RNZCGP in 2020.

Dickson has diverse experience in a number of practice settings including working in high needs, refugee and student health practices. His special interest areas include Sports and Performing Arts Medicine, having completed additional post graduate training in these areas in NZ and overseas; as well as medical education and research. Outside of medicine, he regularly performs as a violinist in a number of ensembles, and is an avid tennis player.

Dickson is working Monday Tuesday and Friday until the end of the year and from 2021 he will be working four days a week Tuesday to Friday, not in the practice on a Mondays. Dickson is accepting New Patient enrollments.

Michele joined our nursing team in 2012. She enjoys most areas of Practice Nursing, in particular her special interests include women's health, childhood immunisations and Aclasta infusions for bone health.

Wendy joined our team as a locum nurse in Feb 2017 and took up a permanent position in January 2018.

Wendy is an experienced Practice Nurse having worked in South Auckland, Central Auckland and Sunshine Coast Australia. Her special interests are women’s health, travel health and immunisations.

Rachel joined our nursing team in 2018. She was previously working in aged residential care in Wellington.

She enjoys working with all ages and enjoys journeying with people to achieve their wellness goals.

Her special interests is palliative care , wellness education and immunisations.

Sam joined our nursing team in 2019. Previously Sam was working in emergency care.

She is enjoying the challenge and variety of the practice nurse role and the opportunity to provide the continuity of care that primary health care offers.

Margo Fitzpatrick – Registered Nurse and nurse smear taker

Margo will be remembered by many as having nursed at Drury Surgery between 2005 and 2017. Margo re-joined our nurse team in 2020. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice, particularly advocating for patients. She has a special interest in Women’s Health, and encouraging all patients in preventative health with healthy nutrition and exercise. She is a Cervical Smear Taker. Margo has three adult children, lives on a sheep and beef farm with her husband, and enjoys a range of activities from adventure races, off- road running, and mountain biking.

Practice Manager

Sue Neems has been our Practice Manager since 1999. The GP owners entrust and delegate the running of the practice on a day to day basis to Sue. Sue is responsible for coordinating the majority of non-medical tasks in the practice including overseeing all Human Resources and delegation of workload and liaison with staff and development and maintenance of our policies and procedures. Sue is both our Privacy and Complaints officer and also our Health and Safety officer.

Sue is in the practice on Monday and Tuesday.

In her absence practice manager queries should be directed to our Kelsi Moore our Reception Team Leader/ Assistant Manager.

Reception team

Kelsi leads our reception team.

Our receptionists Jeannie , Jennifer, Marilyn and Abi are supported by Brittany our Practice clinical assistant.

Our receptionists are pivotal people in our medical practice, as they are our patients' and visitors' first point of contact.

They assist and communicate with clinical staff to co-ordinate our services and help prioritise workflows and manage patient expectation.

Our reception team look forward to helping you book appointments, handle your inquiries, take your payments and also deal with a huge range of administrative tasks.

Our reception team are unable to help with any medication requests or queries on your health management; all of these inquires will be redirected to our nursing team.

To have access to our practice patient portal you must be over 18 years of age and have your own individual unique email address.

To have level 2 portal access you must visit our reception counter in person with photo ID to register.
